The community is invited to enjoy either show. Spring Showcase is the entire school (ages 2 & Up)  while the Company is those students, ages 5 & up, that have signed-up to rehearse outside of class and perform throughout the year. It’s the Company that performs at the Craven Arts Festival and Festival of Fun, and present the Nutcracker.

We believe that every student who takes dance, whether for improved fitness, coordination, confidence, an aspiring professional career, or just for fun, must be trained to the highest standards to ensure positive results. We consider ourselves to be an educational facility and not just a dance studio. Our expectation is to educate your child not only in the art of dance but also in the social skills needed to be a productive member of a group. We work on self-discipline and self-awareness as well as ballet and its history and terminology. We encourage and motivate with positive reinforcement and praise.

All classes at New Bern Ballet focus on one form of dance (there are no combination classes). This allows more time to spend on technique and terminology specific to one area of dance. Classes are small, providing the students with more interaction with the teacher. The Teachers and Assistants at New Bern Ballet are caring individuals, who care about the students and the art form. They strive to provide a creative environment in which the students can progress as dancers and have fun.

If you or your dancer is interested in New Bern Ballet, we encourage you to contact us and arrange a visit - we accept registrations year-round. Your dancer can try out a class while you observe through the one-way mirror in the parent observation area. Afterwards, you and your dancer can visit with Miss Laura and ask any questions.
